Virginia Safari

We left the city, heading west, on Friday evening so we could start our adventures first thing Saturday morning. The first major outing of our 2011 fall trip was about an hour from our home base in Charlottesville, in the Natural Bridge area of western Virginia. Despite the distance, the Virginia Safari Park was a definite "winner" with the wee one. There's a walk through park with farm animals, kangaroos (we saw one with a baby in her pouch!), tigers and monkeys. And, of course, there's the safari area which is stocked with llamas, ostriches, antelopes, zebras, and a wide variety of deer and other ungulates.

We're heeere!!!
Safari animals.
Mr. Turtle.
This video is a little on the long side, but there was too much action packed footage to fit into our usual 2-3 minute length.

And for those of you animal lovers who are still up for more, here's some bonus camel action with a little payback when an ostrich sneaks up on us and gives Mark the creeps.

  2. They had special "Camel Warning!" signage with a picture of a camel eating a bucket...must be a common problem!
