Today we discovered yet another unique National Park Service site within 20 minutes of our door... Oxon Cove Park is home to a few trails but most notably Oxon Hill Farm a working (albeit small) farm that serves as demonstration for city kids like James that food isn't just produced at Harris Teeter.

With the help of a very patient ranger James and about a dozen other 3-5 year olds were able to feed chickens and horses during the 11am program. We were able to explore around the main grounds and play in the visitor center before curtailing our picnic plans in light of the afternoon showers. We ended up picnicking on the home front porch watching the rain.
We will return to Oxon Hill Farm for the feeding and milking of the cows as well as the wagon ride and hopefully a short hike.
