James has been in his new school now for two months and at the parent-teacher conference last week we got a really good update. James is making a lot of new friendships. At three they generally will have a large number of brief friendships and go in and out of favor with each other.
James is doing really well with the play-plan drawings that they do each day to get the kids to begin to recognize that images that they draw on paper can correspond with real things that they plan to do. He is one of the youngest children and picking it up well (though we are beginning to reinforce it at home now so it really takes hold). James also loves cutting paper. Here he is sitting in the sunlight scissors in hand and he definitely loves his home scissors as well. The class is in the middle of a family unit where they set up areas around the rooms with props and engage in somewhat directed play surrounding everyday things that go on at home. The last pick is anybody's guess as to what is going on in their minds. Might have something to do with washing clothes (the gray prop) OR it might be going to the pool (the blue beanbags often represent water). Insert your caption below!
