Sorry for the posting delay - despite plenty of time to work on this (!!!) the cabin fever seems to have sapped my will to be productive :)It's official. This is the snowiest winter in Washington DC history, beating out the winter of 1899 for the top spot with over 55" so far this season. And the 10-day forecast shows more
snow next week.
We were hit with about 26" that started last Friday and ended late on Saturday - nearly keeping Mark from his Superbowl plans. Monday of course, saw the government and all schoools closed while we waited to see what phase 2 of the storm would bring.

On Tuesday we took James to daycare to try and get a little work done...Despite the falling snow, we went ahead with our plans to attend a concert that night while James was taken care of by our neighborhood babysitting co-op. Both to and fro we were left with little choice but to start walking and hope to catch a cab, succeeding around halfway to our destination.
Wednesday the snow continued with the falling and fallen snow piling into drifts and undoing all of Mark's hard work of clearing the car and sidewalk. Meanwhile, James started a second round of low-fever, congestion and all-around fussiness that we think is heralding those long-in-coming first teeth.

Today, the sun came out! and has made quick work of melting much of the snow on the roads where some clearing had already been done. While most schools are closed again tomorrow, the Metro is opening above-ground rail service as soon as they get the tracks cleared and I suspect that the Federal government will reopen for the first time in nearly a week.

Teach James not to eat the yellow snow! Love Grandma IJ
