Our Cherry Blossom Prince

Peak cherry blossom weekend and a fabulous weather forecast...we had a jam packed weekend planned, but we wanted James to be on his best behavior so we scheduled everything around nap times.  The promise of unseasonably warm and sunny days had us looking forward to spending time outside.

Since it was advertised at the "peak weekend" for the cherry blossoms, our plan was to beat the crowds and get James at his happiest by going to see them before the 9:00 am nap.  James threw us off course a little when he decided to sleep in until 8:00, but we had a hard time complaining about such a treat!  We left a bit later than we'd hoped and it was much cooler than we'd thought it was going to be, but we got some sweet pictures of James and the blooms anyway.

Janice happened to be in town for a brief visit and spent a little time with us before heading out to Virginia for some family time.  She got a chance visit with James and let him try on a hand knit sweater with strawberry buttons that she's made.  James sends hugs and kisses to you Auntie Janice!

On Saturday evening, James attended his first Seder though he didn't quite manage stay awake for the meal.  After the ceremony, he went upstairs for a little snooze while the grown-ups feasted on wine and brisket.

On Sunday the weather was nice and we hadn't quite gotten our fill of sunshine yet...so we headed out to the Arboretum between naps.  Many of the blossoming trees were in full bloom, but it was still too early for a peak azalea show.  We put down our blanket in a sunny spot and played with James for a bit, visited the koi pond, and walked around the old capitol columns.

What a great weekend!
