Soooo.
I guess we've been conspicuously silent for a few weeks now...what can I say? We've been REALLY busy. The work has been rolling in and the weekends rolling by much too fast. Here's a run down of our comings and goings since the last post.
The Wright Place, the Wright Time
Saturday, May 22
Our dear friends, the Wrights, were visiting from the left coast and we were lucky enough to get to visit with them. On Saturday morning when James was due for his nap we threw the diaper bag into the car and headed west to Purcellville to meet up with Catherine, Jason, Brian and baby Gabe at Jason's mom's home. We saw the extended Wright clan briefly, but had a wonderful full day with our college pals and their delightful progeny. At 2 1/2, Brian is a peephole into our future with a bright, rambuctious toddler. At just 6 months, Gabe is a reminder of how recently it was that James stayed where you put him!
Alma Mater
Saturday, May 29
Thinking it time to head south again to visit with the Ness side of our lives, we made plans to spend an afternoon in Williamsburg. After battling the Memorial Day traffic, we met my college roomate and her son (hugs to Becca and Ozzie!) for a picnic of Cheese Shop sandwiches in front of the Wren Chapel. After lunch we took a long walk around campus, reminiscing. My mom joined us so there were four William and Mary alumna (and two future Tribe boys?) there to wander down memory lane. As the afternoon was winding down, we stopped for a beer at the Leafe. Ahh. Perfect day.
Playin' with the Big Boys
Sunday, May 30
On Sunday after James had his morning nap we left Granny's house and headed over to Grandad's. Since Zak and Dorothy were out on their anniversary trip to New Orleans, Breyden was staying with Grandad and Granny B. James loved watching and playing with his cousin! He may even have taken his first solo steps (we're still debating it) as he excitedly navigated between people and furniture and toys and food. As the afternoon naptime approached, James wound down and it was time to head back home.
Pool Party/Movie Time
Saturday, June 5
After James' morning nap we put together a quick lunch and headed over to the Armstrong's for an impromptu baby pool party. Reagan is an expert walker by this point, and easily climbed in and out of the pool. James watched with envy :) After James' afternoon nap, Aunt Sarah came by to relieve the weary parents and spend some QT with her favorite nephew. Mark and I (ironically?) went to see Babies with some free movie tickets we've been holding for months. We got home, ordered some awesome Thai food, drank margaritas, and worked on the wedding playlist with Sarah. I am going to need to go shopping for some DANCIN' SHOES for the wedding, ya'll! It's gonna be a blast.
Just Grillin'
Sunday, June 6
We're getting ready for James' par-tay! We spent the day shopping at Home Depot and then getting home and setting up a brand new grill. We had no choice but to test it out with an awesome steak dinner and margaritas on the patio after James went to bed :)
