T-Day and After

Thanksgiving was a whirlwind.  We resumed hosting duties this year, and it was extra special because James' cousins Ashton and Breyden came up for the holiday AND it was Uncle David's last hurrah before traveling to his post in Angola.  All 15 of us enjoyed a fabulous meal, complete with turkey and the fixins, pumpkin pie and many glasses of wine.  Like a mirage, everyone was gone by the middle of the day on Friday leaving our little family to entertain ourselves.

On Friday afternoon, we took James to the Natural History Museum for the first time and walked through the mammal exhibit.  James was overwhelmed - he just ooohed and aaahed at all the strange (and very still) creatures on display.

New coat, hat & gloves.

Like his Daddy, James makes friends easily...
...and will chat with ANYONE!
Grocery shopping can be fun, too!
Then on Saturday, we ventured across the river to a kid's concert at the State Theatre in Falls Church.  Keller Williams put on a great show for the tykes, with balloons and glowsticks.  James watched open-mouthed for much of the time, clearly enjoying himself and fascinated by the music, the kids, and all the other fun acoutrements.

When Daddy went to the game on Sunday, James and I hit Target for a quick shopping trip.    Taking Dorothy's advice, I bought James a "test tree" that he can mangle however he pleases - which will hopefully make our family tree less of an attraction.  Stay tuned for the outcome, but in the meantime, James loves his little tree and carries it around the house with him.

Fun Fact:  James recognizes Elmo and calls him by name.  Jeesh - what is it about that little fuzzy red guy?
