Save the Azaleas!

It's unfortunate news in the DC area that the National Arboretum is planning on destroying their boxwood and azalea gardens due to funding issues.  Did I mention that the azaleas draw more visitors than nearly any other area of the park and that many of the plants exist no where else?  The rationale for taking out the exhibit is shaky at best and has spawned a "Save the Azaleas" campaign.  Not taking any chances, we wanted to get over to see them in case this was our last chance...

Grandma arrived in the mid-morning and we trekked over to the Arboretum for our visit.  We started with a picnic lunch, walked the azalea garden and then down to the vistor center with it's koi pond and bonsai exhibits, and then - to James' delight - took a shuttle bus back to the car.

In the late afternoon, Matt and Sarah joined us in time to watch the Caps game.  We followed that up with a wonderful Passover Seder, toddler style.  We kept it short and simple, reading from a Haggadah written for small children and playing with James' new toy seder plate.  I think this is certainly a tradition we can build on...
