Mom's the Word

I had a wonderful Mother's Day!  On Saturday morning, James and Mark ran errands together and brought home a huge, beautiful  bouquet of roses, sunflowers, and carnations.  Later in the afternoon we attended a Mother's Day party hosted by the midwife who delivered James and we visited with many families who Whitney has helped over the past few years - including a couple who were also in our birthing class.

Sunday morning, James woke bright and early in the 5 o'clock hour and Mark took him downstairs to play and eat breakfast while I slept  a little longer.  Then the family came by for a  potluck brunch.  There were plans to take our brunch to the Arboretum for a picnic, but James was a little off his game.  It turned out to be a little cool, so the back patio was just perfect.  It was just the day I was hoping to have - low key, outdoors, and with family.

Sadly, we didn't take many pictures of our festivities on my first Mother's Day.  There are two reasons for this state of affairs...first, Mark is the primary picture-taker and he stayed busy running the show, and second, a significant portion of my gift involved napping (which is not particularly exciting subject matter.) Allowing me the chance to sleep may have also led to a level of sleep-deprivation for Mark, which brings us back to reason number one.

In any case, I have a new batch of iPhone pics to share in honor of Mother's Day.  Enjoy!
