This year we switched up our usual holiday arrangements and spent Thanksgiving in Virginia with the Ness'. This was the first time James was more than 45 minutes from home, the first overnight away, and, sadly his first funeral. (We said goodbye to a long-time and very close family friend, Betty Galloway on the Friday following Thanksgiving.)
James got to meet his cousins Ashton and Breyden and his Grandma Granny B who were all very excited to see him. He was very popular wherever he went! It was a whirlwind, but James stayed happy-g0-lucky throughout all of the new faces, new places, and rides in the car. (Keep your fingers crossed that this bodes well for an even longer trip at Christmas time...)
The weekend after Thanksgiving, we took off for our first night apart when Mark and I went to the Phish concert in Charlottesville while Glamma and Grandpa watched James. Mom wasn't too anxious, Dad estimated it was one of the best shows EVER, the grandparents had a fabulous time and James enjoyed all of the attention. Good times had by all - a resounding success!
