Blossoms and Planes

This weekend we continued one tradition and started another.

We've been making a short list of experiences that we want to share with James as he becomes more aware and responsive.  One thing we thought he'd love is watching the planes from Gravelly Point Park, just north of National Airport.  It was the perfect choice for some quick post-nap entertainment.  Besides the air traffic, the river supplied countless birds and a great view. James had a great time, not that the Peeps Daddy brought along had anything to do with it...

Despite the cold and clouds, we headed down Sunday morning to the Tidal Basin to view the cherry blossoms.  Last year we got some phenomenal photos; this year, it was a little more difficult with James refusing to stand still and the cold weather gear in full effect.  We spent a few minutes on the walkway gawking at blossoms and duck watching.  Then we walked around to the Jefferson, which turned out to be a great toddler playground - up and down the steps.  In spite of the weather we had a good time and were glad we stuck it out for our 2nd Annual Family Cherry Blossom Day.
